Medicaid Financing: Challenges for Missouri and the Nation

June 8, 2007

The Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the Weidenbaum Center at Washington University, the Center for Health Policy at Washington University, and the Missouri Foundation for Health co-hosted a one-day conference on Medicaid finance on June 8, 2007.

Proceedings from the conference are published in the October 2007 issue of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Regional Economic Development.

This non-technical conference includes sessions on Medicaid funding, the role for government and private markets, and the current relationship between state governments and the federal government. There is considerable discussion of these issues as they relate to Missouri.

Participants include nationally recognized scholars in the areas of Medicaid finance as well as state health administrators and several Missouri hospital administrators.

A keynote address will be provided by Tommy Thompson, former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and Wisconsin Governor.
