Pause in Economic Expansion Cultures
The first half of 1987 interrupted the upward trend of spending, production, and employment that began in 1961. This pause, however, came at an historically high level of output with a low level of unemployment, and it followed a period of intense total demand, pressures on productive capacity, and price inflation.
