The Next Round of Services Negotiations: Identifying Priorities and Options
This article discusses what might be negotiated in the General
Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and the World Trade Organization to
promote liberalization of services markets. The author reviews rationales for engaging
in multilateral trade negotiations and international cooperation, trade
barriers, and options for making the GATS a more relevant instrument of
regulatory reform and market access.
