Relative Movements in Wages and Profits

The U.S. economy is experiencing a strong upswing from the 1969-70 recession. Gains in wages and salaries and in corporate profits have accelerated. From the Q3 1970 to Q3 1972, corporate after-tax profits in the nonfinancial sector have risen at a 14.2% and employee compensation at a 7.3% rate.
