Stabilization Policy and Inflation


Inflation, caused by an excessive rise in total spending, has been a serious national problem since the mid-Sixties. The monetary and fiscal actions of the past two years have been successful in moderating the surge in total spending, and initial adjustments thereto were manifested by reduced real output. More recent adjustments apparently have included a de- cline in the rate of price increase.
