The Bank of Japan, in an effort to boost its inflation above zero, has accumulated the most assets on its balance sheet: about 101% of Japanese GDP. The ECB and Bank of England, respectively, currently hold assets valued at 40% and 27% of their GDPs. The peak value of the Fed's assets was only about 25% of GDP, and its balance sheet as as percentage of GDP has been declining since 2014.
