In a recent St. Louis Fed podcast, David Andolfatto discussed the distributed-ledger blockchain system and the relationship between bitcoin's open-source code, trust, and accountability.

Andolfatto also touched on the potential uses of and obstacles to any proposed "Fedcoin" or government-sponsored cryptocurrencies, and whether or not cryptocurrency regulation is possible.
