October's Employment Situation

On November 3, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 261,000. The unemployment rate dropped to 4.1 percent. The largest sector-based gains occurred in food and drinking establishments, which saw a sharp decline in September after hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Business and professional services, manufacturing, and healthcare also saw increases in October. Read the full report here.
