Week of May 12: Four-Week Moving Average of Initial Claims for Unemployment Benefits

On May 17, the Labor Department released its weekly statistics for the four-week moving average of initial claims for unemployment benefits for the week ending May 12. Claims totaled 213,250, the lowest since December of 1969 and a decline of 2,750 from the previous week.
