February's Employment Situation

On March 8, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that total nonfarm payrolls changed little in February, with an increase of 20,000. Individual sectors saw gains, the largest of which occurred in professional and business services (+42,000) and health care (+21,000). The unemployment rate declined to 3.8 percent. The BLS also revised December's total nonfarm payrolls up from +222,000 to +227,000 and January's total nonfarm payrolls up from +304,000 to +311,000.
