State and Local Government Finance amid Economic Turbulence

Conference proceedings are published in the October 2010 issue of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Regional Economic Development.

The Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and the Weidenbaum Center at Washington University in St. Louis co-hosted a one-day conference on state and local public finance on April 9, 2010.

The conference was held in the May Auditorium in Simon Hall on the campus of Washington University.

This non-technical conference included sessions on the current status of state and local public finance, fiscal federalism in the United States, an economic evaluation of state and local taxes, and non-traditional revenue sources for state and local governments.

Participants included nationally recognized scholars from across the country. A keynote address was provided by Ronald C. Fisher from Michigan State University.
