My Account Help
I. Introduction With a user account, you will be able to:
II. Account Basics User account navigation is at the top of every page and includes links to the 'My Account', 'Email Notifications', 'Data Lists', 'Log In', and 'Help' pages. Note: The 'Email Notifications' and 'Data Lists' pages require you to be logged in. The 'My Account' page is particularly useful because it's an index of user account pages.
1. How to Register a User Account On the 'My Account' page, select the 'Register a New User Account' link. Alternatively, you can go to the 'Log In' page and select the 'register' link. Registering a user account has 3 steps: 1. Complete the registration form. 2. Wait for a confirmation email to arrive. 3. Visit a link in the confirmation email to verify access to your email address. Your privacy is important to us. For user accounts, we require only a valid email address and password of your choice. A session is valid until you log out or close your browser; at that time, the browser cookie expires. Please read our privacy policy to learn more. 2. How to Log in Select the 'Log In' link in the user account navigation at the top of the page. Enter the email address and password associated with your account. 3. If You Forget Your Password Go to the 'My Account' page. Select the 'Forgot Password' link. Alternatively, you can go to the 'Log In' page and select the 'Forgot your password?' link. You will be prompted to type in your email address. Next, press the 'Continue, using our secure server' button. Within a few minutes you should receive an email message with specific instructions for creating a new password. This message will be valid for 3 days. 4. How to Edit Account Information First log in. You will be forwarded to the 'My Account' page. Select the 'Edit Account Information' link. From this page you can change your email address and password. III. Email Notifications 5. How to Add an Email Notification In general, select the 'Notify Me of Updates' links next to content throughout the web site. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so. As an example, select the 'Notify Me of Updates' links from any of the FRED economic database series pages (e.g., Gross Domestic Product, 1 Decimal) or categories pages (e.g., GDP Domestic Product (GDP) and Components). For research publications, first select any of the 'Email Notifications' links (e.g., Review Email Notifications), then select any of the 'Notify Me of Updates' links. 6. How to Remove an Email Notification First log in. You will be forwarded to the 'My Account' page. Select the 'Email Notifications' link. Last, select the 'Remove' link next to the corresponding email notification. 7. If You Are Not Receiving Your Email Notifications You should first contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Information Technology department. The email notifications may be erroneously marked as spam. You should tell your ISP or IT department that messages sent from maillist@research.stlouisfed.org are legitimate. They can adjust the email filter to let the messages through. If you continue to have problems please let us know. IV. Data Lists See 'How to Use My Data Lists' for a step-by-step tutorial with screenshots. 8. How to Add a New Data List First log in. You will be forwarded to the 'My Account' page. Select the 'Data Lists' link. Next, select the 'Add New Data List' link on the 'Data Lists' page. Enter a name for the list. 9. How to Add a Data Series to a Data List To add a data series, select the 'Add to My Data Lists' link on any data series page in the 'Economic Data - FRED' section. You will then be asked to select which of your data lists to add the series to. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so. As an example, go to the GDP data series page and select 'Add to My Data Lists'. 10. How to Remove a Data Series from a Data List First log in. You will be forwarded to the 'My Account' page. Select the 'Data Lists' link . On the 'Data Lists' page, select the data list that you want to remove the data series from. On this data list page, select the 'Remove' link next to the corresponding data series. |
