Electronic Mailing Lists System Change Information

On June 1, 2003, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis activated a new and improved email notification system for data and research publications, replacing the current system to which you subscribe. This message lists the changes that will affect you
as a subscriber.

The new email notification system is more secure and easier to use; it includes more files than the previous system and allows you to quickly manage multiple notifications from one location.

Before you login, you must create a password for this account; for instructions, please go to Register User Account. Please read learn more about user accounts for information on how to add email notifications for updated content

Changes to keep in mind:

Files are no longer attached to emails. We have found that many users have limited email disk space, and, as a result, numerous emails with attached files are returned to our server undelivered. Therefore, the new email notifications will include only a link to the updated file on the web site.

Data series are no longer sent via email. Because this new system has more choices, you will be able to select among many specific links: for example, a link to the historical series or a link to where you can download the file in Excel format.

This new system will work directly with the FRED II database, so FRED series and category mailing lists have been mapped to the corresponding FRED II series and categories.

FRED II does not include update files, so the current update files (containing only the most recent observations) have been mapped to the corresponding FRED II historical files.

Trade.zip and Trade.exe category files from FRED are now mapped to three separate FRED II categories: Balance of Payments, Exports, and Imports.

Usfd.zip, Usfd.exe, daily.zip, update6.zip, update6.exe, update7.zip, and update7.exe will be mapped to one FRED II category: U.S. Financial Data.

If you would like to learn more about the features of the new email notification system, please read http://research.stlouisfed.org/useraccount/learnmore.

Please note: The original FRED database will be discontinued in July and replaced with the new FRED II database which debuted a year ago. See the announcement on our web site for more information. (http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred/fred_discontinued.html)
