St. Louis Fed President Alberto G. Musalem

Alberto Musalem became the president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis on April 2, 2024. In this role, he participates on the Federal Open Market Committee, or FOMC, which sets the direction of U.S. monetary policy.

Musalem also leads the 1,500 employees of the St. Louis Fed and oversees the activities of the Eighth Federal Reserve District at our St. Louis headquarters and our branches in Little Rock, Ark., Louisville, Ky., and Memphis, Tenn. This includes economic research, fiscal agent responsibilities for the U.S. Treasury, supervisor of District financial institutions, community development, and regional payments, transparency, technology and support functions.

Musalem is the St. Louis Fed’s 13th president. He is an economist and executive with public and private sector experience in economic policy, finance and markets. His appointment followed an extensive national search process, consistent with the Federal Reserve Act and policy of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
